    Arrival in Orange

    Arrival  in Orange and check-in at your hotel. Take time to explore Orange and visit emblematic sites such as its triumphal arch dating back to the first century, and the ancient Roman theatre, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

    Orange - Avignon

    Distance : ~41km

    In the morning, you will leave Orange on the Via Rhôna. You will quickly reach the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. Take a break at one of the estates or bars for a glass of wine. Continue along the Rhône river to Barthelasse, the largest island of the Rhône, before arriving in Avignon. Stroll across the famous bridge and take time to visit the Palais des Papes.

    Free day in Avignon

    Take advantage of this free day to explore Avignon. Stroll across the famous bridge and take the time to visit the Palais des Papes. This papal palace is a major medieval building, and undoubtedly the largest. This ceremonial and defensive palace was a papal residence in the 14th century and the seat of Western Christianity.

    Avignon - St Rémy de Provence

    Distance : ~58km

    Leave Avignon via the Via Rhôna. This cycle path along the Rhône river is very easy to follow. It offers beautiful views of the river and the villages along the way. Take a break in Beaucaire and visit its medieval castle perched high on the hill. Leave the Rhône river and head east, taking in the magnificent scenery  over the Alpilles. You will arrive in St-Rémy-de-Provence in the late afternoon.

    St Rémy de Provence - L'Isle sur la Sorgue

    Distance : ~36km

    Today’s journey will guide you to the Venice of Provence: L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. You will start by cycling through peaceful countryside, with magnificent scenery,  meandering from village to village and enjoying the local way of life. The day won’t be long, so you will have time to fully appreciate the atmosphere of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, well known to art and antique enthusiasts.

    Isle sur la Sorgues - Carpentras

    Distance : ~19km

    The next stage will take you through the garrigue of Provence, cycling along the Via Venaissia. Listen to the cicadas and smell the sweet scent of this peaceful region. For those seeking a longer route, choose the option of climbing to Venasque (about 41km in total). Then descend to the town of Carpentras.

    Carpentras - Orange

    Distance : ~24km

    From Caprentras to Orange, there are two options. An easy 24 km option on the cycle path via Sarrians and Jonquières. An option via the villages of Beaume-de-Venise and Vaqueyras, covering 38 km. On this last day of cycling, don’t forget to stop off at a wine estate. When you arrive in Orange at the end of the day, take the opportunity to visit the town if you didn’t have time at the start of the tour.
