Spend a weekend in the wine and food region. You are sure to be in the perfect place to be charmed by the authenticity of the vineyards and the Burgundy countryside. From Beaune, Capital of Wines, you will explore the magnificent UNESCO-listed vineyards before joining by the canal du centre, Chalon Sur Saône , the born place of photography. The next day you will ride the Saône plain with these agricultural crops and these centuries-old forests up to Beaune by cycle paths.
Day 1 : Beaune – Chalon sur Saône– vineyards of the Côte de Beaune ~43km
Arriving to Beaune in the morning, our store is close to the city center, next to the Parc de la Bouzaise. You will meet our agency representative who will present your short stay, give you your travel book, maps and tourist brochures as well as your bicycles. You can then take the time to stroll through the medieval streets of Beaune, its ramparts, the collegiate church of Notre-Dame with its 15th century tapestries, and have a drink in one of the many cafes.
Or you will take the direction of the vineyards directly. the wine route, a marked route for bikes in the vineyards will allow you to cross the famous wine villages of Chassagnes Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard. You will have the opportunity to find in these villages many wine estates where you can taste the great wines of Burgundy and cross Grand Cru vineyards. Before joining Chalon sur Saône, you will follow the central canal on a towpath converted into a cycle track. If you have taken advantage of the hospitality of the wine estates too much, you can catch a train from Chagny to reach Chalon sur Saône.
Day 2: Chalon sur Saône – Beaune ~45km
The route today is without major difficulty, you stay in the plain. You leave Chalon Sur Saône on a cycle route along the Saône before joining Gergy. The rest of this stage is also marked by taking the Tacot route, an old railroad track which has been refurbished into a cycle path between forests and agricultural area. You will reach Beaune and our store by gentle and secure routes and you will be able to stroll through Beaune again.
Possibility to park your car for free in Beaune, near the place of departure.
On Saturdays, if you arrive early enough in Beaune, you can stop by the Place de la Halle market and buy your picnic with regional products for the day. It would be the same the next day. In Chalon, the market is on Sundays.
If you buy souvenirs (bottles of wines) on the way, we can collect them for you, and keep them until your departure – that way, you pedal light!
