This bike excursion in Burgundy is the perfect tour for those looking to combine the fun and adventure of biking through the Cote de Beaune vineyards.
One of the most unique things to do in Burgundy is take a bike tour that allows you to go off-road and literally through the vineyards!
You’ll pedal along scenic roads hosted by one of our knowledgeable Tour Guides and visit two local wineries for tastings.
Your day
9:30 appointment at parc de la Bouzaise, allée du docteur Bouley at Beaune. Cycling day can start! After a minibus transfer you arrive in the heights of the village of St. Romain.
Firstly, your Tour Guide will ensure that you’re completely comfortable with the fit and handling of your bike. With a casual pace and frequent stops, the emphasis is on enjoying the scenery and introducing you to boutique and family-owned wineries along the way.
You will be riding in the heart of the Burgundy wine region, world heritage classified UNESCO.
Enjoy a first bike trip to join the iconic castle in Burgundy – Château de la Rochepot, with its glazed roof.
Afterward your guide will prepare a wine tasting for you in the middle of the vineyards. It will be a good excuse to talk about the different vines in Burgundy. You’ll understand and learn about the plant, the soil and why Burgundy wine is the best!
Then you continue breathtaking cycle through the hills of the Cote de Beaune passing vineyards, villages and fields. Taking in the sights, smells and sounds, enjoy a scenic downhill before to cross the plots of Montrachet Grand Cru.
Second stop for the tour and tasting at Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet.
After that, it’s time for the lunch in Puligny Montrachet , as a picnic or traditional Burgundian meal in a restaurant.
Get on your bike again! Pommard direction!
Finally, you will visit a typical local winery, discover their stone cellars , understand the work of a winemaker. The winemaker will be able to deliver the bottles directly to your hotel or can also ship it home.
After the visit, back to Beaune by minivan.
This is not the tour for the tough ones who “have legs” and love a challenge. It is rather an easy ride for beginners and or casual riders.
